03/2016  2016 has started with a busy January with our  rearranged game at  La Serena on the 14th and our scheduled  trip to Mar Menor on the 28th. Maybe for the first time the  top place in divisions one and two went to the same two players with Keith Green in  first place in division one both times with 36 and 40 points and like wise in division two Phil Carter came in with 37 and 33 points. In division three, in the meantime, the winner at La Serena was Dave May with 28 points  with Allen Evans  taking top spot at  Mar Menor with a points  score of 37.Both events were well supported with  23 and 32 players respectively and the weather was also  kind to us on both occasions. The nearest the pin winners during both events  were Chris Andrews,Neil Mcfarlane,Gerry Mcrobert and steve  martindale with the twos money  rolled over again ..Our next outing is to Lorca on thursday march 31st and if anyone wishes to join The Old Guard or  just play as a guest ,please contact us by email.

02/2016  Our February outing  on the 25th was to the very popular course at AGUILON golf resort which turned out to be a very windy day indeed for the 32 players who had made the trip. The course itself was in very good  condition as usual which made up  for  the difficulties that the wind created.Despite the wind NEIL MCFARLANE took the overall winners prize with a points score of 33 with KEITH GREEN also with 33 points in second  place  only on countback and these scores also gave them first and second place in division one. Meanwhile in division two the top spot was taken by LENNY WHALEN with 30 points with DAVE GRAY a close second with 28 points. In division three JOHN DOWNIE took first prize with 30 points  followed in second place by LES DAY with 25 points. The nearest the pin prizes went to DAVE SIMPSON,DAVE GAUTIER,JACK WARD,NEIL MCFARLANE and our guest KEVIN TAYLOR.The twos money prizes was equally shared by our  two guests  one of which was achieved on a par four hole. Our next game is at the CONDADO course at ALHAMA on april 28th  and if anyone wishes to join The Old Guard or  just play as a guest ,please contact  us by email.

01/2016  Thursday December 10th was the day for the Old Guard to make their annual visit to La Serena golf resort and 22 members arrived looking forward to a pleasant days golf in the sunshine. Also this was not to before as the members gathered on the first tee, the clouds rolled in and the rain came down in a steady downpour. With the prospect of a thorough soaking the game was abandoned and another date in January was fixed and we retired to the bar to be joined by another like minded society who were equally as wet. 2016 will be a big year for Fuente Old Guard as it now ten years since the society was first formed and several sponsored events are to be arranged to commemorate that milestone in FOGGS history. There will also be new society shirts issued to mark the occasion and several sponsors have been found to help make 2016 a year to be remembered. Should anyone wish to join the old guard or just play as a guest please contact us by email.

11/2015  November is a busy month for the old guard with our AGM on the 19th along with our Annual Putting Contest, which this year, was won in style by Keith Green, well done Keith! Later in the month, on the 26th, the members made a return trip to the  excellent course of Hacienda del Alamo for our Annual Presentations event but unfortunately the windy weather was against us and the event was postponed for two days and played on the 28th thirty four players turned up on both occasions and the match eventually took place in warm and calm conditions.  On the day, our overall winner was Gerry Mc Robert with 34 points followed by Roger Grainger with 31 points. Gerry’s score also gave him top spot in division one,  again followed by roger as runner up. In  division two Teresa Moore  came out  in top place with 28 points and Maurice Nafzger came second with  27 points. Meanwhile in  division three, Derek Hayward came first with 25 points with Gavin Elbourne  was in second place also with 25 points decided on count back.
